Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from that period of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children together, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had caused some to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
