Cars in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Police then located many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for information.

A senior representative commented the attack made him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
